This Policy describes how Umbrellar Limited and any other company in the Umbrellar Group (as described in the General Terms and Conditions) ("Umbrellar", "us", "we") collects and uses personal information.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DOES UMBRELLAR COLLECT?
Here are the types of information we gather from visitors to Umbrellar and our customers:
1.1 Information You Give Us: We receive and store any information you enter on our Web site or give us in any other way, such as by telephone or by electronic mail. For example, we are required by respective domain name Registries, (the organisations which assume responsibility for domain name allocation) to collect information about you during the domain name registration process. This information includes your full name, mailing address, phone number, email address, and where provided, your facsimile number. We also collect certain financial information from you during the domain name registration process or when you sign up for services. Namely, when you sign up for a service or apply to register a domain name through Umbrellar, we require you to provide a credit card number and billing address before we will process that application.
1.3 Automatic Information: Umbrellar uses "cookies." Cookies receive and store certain types of information whenever you interact with us. For example, our servers track the type of Web browser you are using, and the page to which you link from Umbrellar. We collect this information to offer better service to our customers and not to track your individual usage patterns.
2. WHAT DOES UMBRELLAR DO WITH THE INFORMATION IT COLLECTS?
We will use the personal information we collect, and may share such personal information with other entities (such as service providers) to:
(a) provide services to you;
(a) identify you when you sign in to your account and to verify that your account is not being used by others;
(b) carry out research and analysis so we can better understand and serve you;
(c) tailor content, advertisements or links to you;
(d) gather broad anonymous demographic data (such as the number of visitors from a geographic area);
(e) communicate with you in relation to services we provide from time to time;
(f) enforce compliance with our Terms and Conditions;
(g) verify and carry out financial transactions in relation to payments and subscriptions you make through Umbrellar; and
(h) co-operate with any government, industry or regulatory authorities.
3. WHEN DOES UMBRELLAR SHARE THE INFORMATION IT RECEIVES?
We share personal information as described below:
3.2 Agents: We may engage other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include processing credit card payments, providing marketing assistance, providing customer services, sending postal mail and email to you, removing repetitive information from customer lists, and analysing data. These persons have access to personal information needed to perform their functions.
3.3 Service Providers: We may engage other companies and individuals to perform enhanced services on our behalf. For example, free electronic mail services to our domain name registrants.
3.4 Business Transfers: As we continue to develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or their assets. In such transactions, customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets. Also, if Umbrellar, or all or substantially all of its assets were ever to be acquired, customer information will of course be one of the transferred assets.
3.5 Protection of Umbrellar and Others: We release account and other personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with law; enforce or apply our Terms and Conditions and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Umbrellar, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
4. CALL RECORDING
4.1 We record all telephone calls answered in our contact centre. This helps us to identify ways that we can provide you with a better service. We record calls for the following purposes:
(a) for staff training, to improve our customer service and to ensure the information we provide to you is consistent and accurate
(b) for reporting on the different types of enquiries we receive
(c) to keep a record of your call, which may be needed to support any transactions that take place over the phone and/or if there is a dispute.
4.2 You can ask for access to the recording of your call by writing to us at Umbrellar, PO Box 302829, North Harbour, Auckland, 0751. You will need to clearly identify who you are and your contact details, and provide us the exact details of the date and time of your call, and the phone number you called from. Phone call recordings are stored securely for up to 90 days and then destroyed.
5. ELECTRONIC MAIL
From time to time, Umbrellar may use your personal information to contact you by electronic mail concerning your use of our services. These communications are intended to inform you of important information regarding your account, or about general services provided by Umbrellar. If you do not want to receive email from us regarding service updates, please click the "unsubscribe link" at the bottom of any email you receive from Umbrellar. We will, however, continue to send you email regarding your account administration and necessary information, such as renewal information.
6. HOW SECURE IS INFORMATION ABOUT ME?
6.1 You should be aware that information transmitted over the internet is inherently insecure. We will take all reasonable steps to securely store any personal information collected through Umbrellar. This information may (for the avoidance of doubt) be transferred and stored on servers anywhere worldwide.
6.2 Any personal information sent through Umbrellar is passed through a secure server using encryption technology. All personal information stored by us is protected through secure passwords, user log-ons and other security procedures.
6.3 In addition, our employees and the contractors who provide services related to our information systems are obliged to respect the confidentiality of any personal information we hold. However, we will not be held responsible for any unauthorised access to your personal information.
6.4 You can play an important role in keeping your personal information secure by maintaining the confidentiality of any password and accounts used with Umbrellar. Please notify us immediately if there is any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security.
6.5 Payment Security is managed through DPS for mutual security. Encryption protection is managed with an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate, industry standard 128bit encryption software.
6.6 Customers’ personal information provided when purchasing goods online, will not be shared with third parties without customer approval to do so. Payments are processed through the secure DPS Payment Express system. Payment Security is managed through DPS for mutual security. Encryption protection is managed with an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) certificate, industry standard 128bit encryption software. Any credit card details stored for payments are done so on the DPS system. We do not hold customers credit or debit card details on file.
7. WHAT INFORMATION CAN I ACCESS?
Umbrellar gives you access to certain information about you for the limited purpose of viewing and, in certain cases, updating that information. To view or change this information, log in to My Account.
When you update information, we usually keep a copy of the prior version for our records.
